Map & Directions to the Museum

By Car: Take the Long Island Expressway (Route 495) to Exit 62. Proceed north on County Road 97 (Nicolls Road) to its end. Turn left onto Route 25A for 1-1 1/2 miles, to the intersection of 25A and Main Street in Stony Brook. Turn Left.

The Museums main entrance is on the right. Driving time from New York City approximately
one to one and one half hours.

Ferry Services: From New England between Bridgeport, CT, Port Jefferson, LI, four miles east of The Museums, and between New London, CT, and Orient Point on the east end of Long Island. Both ferries operate year round.

Car and walk-on reservations are suggested for summer and holiday travel.
By Train:
Stony Brook Station is located along the Long Island Rail Road, Port Jefferson line. From Pennsylvania Station in Manhattan, travel time is approximately one and one half hours.

Taxi service is available at Stony Brook Station, located on Route 25A one mile east of The Museums.

Located at 1200 Route 25A in Stony Brook, the Long Island Museum is a Smithsonian affiliate, dedicated to American history and art with a Long Island connection.  The museum is open Thursday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m and Sunday from noon to 5.  Regular admission is $10 per person, $7 for seniors and $5 for students ages six to 17.  Children under six and museum members are free.
