Join us for this exciting opportunity for homeschool families. Through tours, art-making and hands-on activities, the day will encourage families to explore current exhibitions and gain a deeper understanding of the lives of Long Islanders of a bygone era. Book Club

Students in grades 4 through 6 and their families will take a guided tour through the exhibition, Midnight Rum:  Long Island and Prohibition.  Afterward, join Emma Clark librarians for a discussion of Black Duck by Janet Taylor Lisle.  Register in person and pick up the book at the library beginning April 22.  This program is free; pre-registration is required. Take a guided tour of the Edible Eden exhibition followed by a discussion of Thomas Barritt's Long Island Food:  A History from Family Farms & Oysters to Craft Spirits.  Carolyn Emerson, Reference Librarian at Emma S. Clark Memorial Library leads the discussion. Family fun Day

Free museum fun for the whole family!  Local author Cindy Sommer will read her book Saving Kate's Flowers, the story of a little girl's determination to save her flowers from the winter cold.  Enjoy nature-themed crafts, refreshments and special guests from the Guide Dog Foundation for the Blind in Smithtown.  Free admission all day, sponsored by Target.

Enjoy a dog themed family evening at the LIM! Children are invited to bring their favorite doggy stuffed animal, tour the Dog Days exhibition, enjoy live music by the Cuomo Family Band, try their hand at canine crafts and have a special chance to meet some local shelter pets and guide/service dogs!
