North Shore Pro Musica performs a chamber music concert featuring Modest Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition.  Performance takes place in the Carriage Museum's Gillespie Room and tickets are available at the door.  Discount tickets available for LIM and Pro Musica members, and students. Pictures from an Exhibition – A Remembrance of Viktor Hartmann is a suite of ten pieces composed for the piano in 1874.  It is Mussorgsky's most famous piano composition and has become a showpiece for virtuoso pianists. Brooklyn-born rock/reggae/blues and soul singer Garland Jeffreys is a true legend, as recognized by his recent induction into the Long Island Music Hall of Fame. Garland emerged on the music scene in the early 70’s with a much-heralded debut album and went on to record the seminal Ghost Writer album which sees the 40th anniversary of its release this year. That album included the FM radio anthem “Wild In the Streets.” recently featured on the soundtrack of “The Get Down.”…

Senior Tuesday – Colors of Long Island

Seniors 62 and older might recognize artwork by their grandchildren at this free, self-guided tour of our annual student art exhibition, Colors of Long Island.  The exhibition includes works in all media created by students in grades K through 12 from 150 Long Island schools.  The theme Colors of Long Island is open to interpretation.  See how these creative students, many of whom go on to study art in college, approach the subject.
