Celebrate Native American History with the Montaukett Indian Nation Dancers!

November 20 @ 2:00 pm

The Long Island Museum sits on traditional lands of Setalcott, part of the larger area that was the territory of the First Peoples of Long Island. Join us to honor and celebrate National Native American Heritage Month with members of the Long Island Native community.

The Montaukett Women Dancers will perform two dances: a Women’s Traditional Dance, and a Women’s Blanket Dance.  Mandy Miller Jackson, a Montaukett will moderate and provide a “Four Directions Blessing.” Helen Sells, Co-Chair of the Setalcott Nation, and Sandi Brewster-walker, Executive Director & Government Affairs Officer for the Montaukett Indian Nation, will also briefly talk about the heritage of Long Island’s Native American community.

This will be a beautiful and exciting program for all ages to learn more about our Native American history and the cultural experiences!

Located in the Gillespie Room of the Carriage Museum.
