Join us for a Zoom lecture on The Long Road to Freedom: Surviving Slavery on Long Island, by former LIM curator
and author of The Long Road to Freedom exhibition catalog, Jonathan M. Olly, Ph.D. The book focuses on the
experiences of people of color from the 17th to 19th centuries and explores how slavery operated, how African
Americans resisted bondage, navigated the era of emancipation, and built communities from Brooklyn to the
