FILM @ LIM: “Home Court”

April 1 @ 7:00 pm

The Long Island Museum joined forces with the Greater Port Jefferson Arts Council to bring you the FILM @ LIM series!

Join us at LIM for a free screening of Home Court, an Independent Lens documentary. Home Court follows the coming-of-age journey of Ashley Chea, a Cambodian American basketball prodigy from Southern California. As recruitment pressures mount, Ashley navigates the challenges of injury, as well as the racial and class divides between her home life and private school experience. Through perseverance on and off the court, she strives to carve her own path and leave a lasting legacy.

A panel discussion follows the 60-minute film featuring Arnika Edwards (M.Ed, MBA, Stony Brook University, Assistant Athletics Director of Student Athletes, Career and Leadership Development) and Coach Kelly Dempsey (Making Waves in Women’s Basketball, Level Up LI Girls Director, Hicksville Girls Varsity Basketball Head Coach).

HOME COURT is a free screening from the Indie Lens Pop-Up series co-hosted by Greater Port Jefferson Arts Council and Long Island Museum.

Location

The screening is located in the Gillespie Room of the Carriage Museum. (Bring a sweater or light jacket for comfort)
