Children will tour the Walt Whitman’s Arcadia: Long Island Through the Eyes of a Poet & Painters exhibition and the historic Nassakeag one-room schoolhouse. Participants will learn about one of the nation’s most revered 19th century poets as well as the American landscape painting traditions of the same time period. Through hands-on activities in the gallery, schoolhouse and studio, children will have a chance to view paintings and try their hand at writing poetry and creating their own landscape compositions. $5/student ($20 maximum per family), free for parents. Call to register.
