Open to all amateur and professional artists 18 years of age and older. All media accepted. Works should be inspired by the theme – Wanderlust. Work must not have been created more than three years prior to deadline and must not have been exhibited previously in LIM exhibitions. LIM employees and their immediate families/household members are not eligible to enter.
Cash prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place as well as honorable mention.
Finalist selections will be displayed in the exhibition space in the Visitors Center from April 20 through June 3, 2018. The 1st place winning entry will be displayed prominently in the museum from June 7 through July 1, 2018.
Limit three entries per person. Maximum ready-to-hang size (including frame) must not exceed 36″ in any direction. NO EXCEPTIONS. No minimum size requirement. If you are submitting a film clip, maximum length should not exceed three minutes (no minimum length requirement). All works must be ready to hang, and all hardware must be provided. Three-dimensional pieces must not exceed 36″ in any direction and pedestals must be provided. Name and contact information must be included on reverse of all pieces submitted.
Images of all entries must be submitted electronically by March 1, 2018. Submit one image for each work in accordance with the digital entry guidelines. Please submit best image quality, as it will represent your work and will be used to determine potential inclusion in the exhibition. Actual artwork will not be accepted at this time.
Digital Image Guidelines
All digital images must meet the following specifications: Must include file name = artist’s last name, title. File name must be the same as indicated on the electronic entry form. Image files should be submitted in JPG format. Image resolution should be 72dpi and no larger than 2000 pixes in any direction. Images must be oriented properly (i.e. top of image is top of artwork) and readable on a Windows based PC computer. Please note, the electronic entry form requires log in to your Google account. If you do not have a Google account, you may create one for free or you may e-mail your entries to email@example.com. Please include you name, address, phone number, e-mail address, and title, size and medium of each entry. Please include Wanderlust in the subject line.
There is a non-refundable entry level fee of $30 ($25 for LIM members) for up to three entries. Please make check or money order payable to the Long Island Museum and mail to Juried Art Show, Long Island Museum, 1200 Route 25A, Stony Brook, NY 11790.
Please include artist name and contact information with your payment. Submission is complete upon receipt of payment. Confirmation emails will be sent when payment, images and online entry form are all completed and processed. No phone calls please.
Delivery Instructions for Selected Artwork
Artists whose work has been selected for the exhibition will be notified by telephone or e-mail by March 20, 2018. Artwork may be hand-delivered or shipped to the Long Island Museum, 1200 Route 25A, Stony Brook, NY 11790.
Hand-delivered entries may be dropped off at the Visitors Center during the following dates and times ONLY:
Tuesday, April 10, noon – 5 p.m.
Wednesday, April 11, noon – 5 p.m.
Shipped entries must be postmarked by April 10, 2018. Please package artwork in reusable containers and include the following:
- Completed, prepaid return shipping label via U.S. Mail, UPS or FedEx.
- Artist’s name and contact information attached to back of all artwork.
The Long Island Museum is not responsible for lost or damaged artwork.
Pick-Up Instructions for Selected Artwork
Except for winning entries, all hand delivered artwork must be picked up on the following dates and times at the Long Island Museum:
Monday, June 4, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Tuesday, June 5, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
A storage fee of $5 per piece per day will be applied for pieces not picked up on the appointed day and artwork will be stored at the museum at the owner’s risk. Any artwork not picked up after 30 days will become the property of the Long Island Museum. Arrangement for pick-up of works by the first place artist will be made after July 1, 2018.
An awards reception will be held on Friday, April 20, 2018 in the Visitors Center from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Cash prizes and ribbons will be awarded to the winners. The public is invited to attend to view the exhibition and meet the artists.
