Mary Nimmo Moran’s Work and Life in Context

March 10 @ 2:00 pm

Join Associate Curator of American Art at LACMA, Shannon Vittoria, for a free virtual talk about her research on Mary Nimmo Moran (1842-1899), a 19th-century landscape painter and prominent etcher.

Moran is featured in our current The Power of Two exhibition with her husband and fellow artist Thomas Moran. The couple first visited East Hampton in 1878, and soon purchased land on Main Street where they designed and built an eclectic home, The Studio, in 1883. The notoriety of Thomas brought other New York artists to the East End, and The Studio became an artistic refuge, welcoming painters, writers, and actors.
