SPIRITUS Masterclass for High School Violin and Piano Students

Featuring acclaimed International Artists Stephen Kim and Elliot Wuu, the 2026 Masterclass Series at the Long Island Museum spearheads SPIRITUS Festival’s education initiative by providing local young musicians an opportunity to receive world-class instruction in a public performance setting.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Elliot Wuu, piano

Winner of the Gilmore Artist Award and a Steinway Artist as well as a laureate of the 2025 American Piano Awards, Elliot Wuu has firmly established himself as one of the leading pianists of this generation. His performances have brought him to prestigious venues across the Europe, North America, and Asia, as well as major festival appearances. 

Stephen Kim, Piano

Internationally recognized soloist and chamber musician, Stephen Kim has garnered prizes from such competitions as Queen Elisabeth, Sendai, and Paganini, and has appeared with orchestras around the world. A passionate chamber musician and avid educator, he is a frequent guest at esteemed festivals such as Marlboro, Ravinia, Kronberg, and many more.

The Student Musicians

Hendrix Bo Chan

Hendrix is an 11-year-old pianist from New York City and a student at Hunter College Elementary School. He studies piano with Gabrielle Chou at the Juilliard School and recently performed Haydn’s Piano Concerto in D Major. Hendrix has performed at venues including Merkin Hall and Weill Recital Hall. In addition to his work as a pianist, he is an active chorister and serves as Head Chorister for the children of the Church of the Transfiguration Men, Boys, and Girls Choir, where he has earned the Gold Level Medal from the Royal School of Church Music. Hendrix is also a composer, studying through Juilliard’s MAP Program and the New York Philharmonic’s Very Young Composers Program.

Yiteng Li

Yiteng is a 15-year-old violinist currently studying at the Manhattan School of Music Precollege Division under the pedagogy of Christina Khimm-Rosand. He has participated in numerous performances and competitions and is passionate about both solo and collaborative music-making. In the summer of 2025, Yiteng attended the Summit Music Festival, where he placed 3rd in the Mary Smart Concerto Competition. He was recently accepted to the Meadowmount School of Music for the 2026 summer season and will attend as a student of I-Hao Lee. In addition to his musical studies, Yiteng is actively involved in music education and enjoys teaching younger students. He is also interested in expanding access to music education through nonprofit and educational initiatives. Alongside his musical pursuits, Yiteng has strong academic interests, particularly in STEM, where he is a co-founder of his school’s Artificial Intelligence club and is a member of the robotics team.

Ria Kang

Ria is a 10-year-old violinist whose artistry has captured audiences across three continents. A student of Catherine Cho at The Juilliard School’s Pre-College Division, where she was accepted at age 7, Ria began her violin studies at age 4. Ria was a first-prize winner at the 2024 Arthur Grumiaux Int’l Violin Competition, with additional firsts at the Camerata Artists Int’l Competition, NY Int’l Music Festival & Concours, NY Young Virtuoso Competition, Music Int’l Grand Prix, and Philadelphia Int’l Music Festival Concerto Competition. Ria made her Carnegie Hall debut at age 6 and orchestral debut with the Seocho Philharmonia at age 9. Recent highlights include the Concours musical international de Montréal’s Mini Violini, World AI Film Festival opening ceremony in Cannes, Juilliard’s Starling-DeLay Symposium on Violin Studies, and Korean War Memorial Peace Concert in Washington, DC. Beyond music, Ria enjoys acting, reading, drawing, and spending time with her Maltese, Milk.

Sabrina Liu

Sabrina is an 8th-grader at Paul J. Gelinas Middle School who has been playing piano for 7 years. She is currently a student of Esther Chung Marks, while also studying violin for 6 years. Sabrina won 2nd place in the Late Advanced Division of the 2026 Suffolk Music Teacher’s Foundation and also performed at Carnegie Hall’s Concert Festival in April 2026 as a Grand Prix winner. Along with that, she performs at many recitals from her piano teacher’s organization. Other than piano, Sabrina is currently part of the MYO Symphony Orchestra, having previously participated in MYO String Orchestra. She is part of one of her school’s ensembles–which is the Chamber Orchestra. She has also participated in LISFA and SCMEA, while also performing at many recitals and community + church performances. Outside of music, Sabrina’s hobbies are playing rhythm games, sketching, and badminton.
