Thanks to generous funding, these programs are free for individuals living at home, as well as those in Day and Live-In Care Communities.

Arts & Alzheimer’s Conference
Thursday, June 18, 2026 from 9:30 AM – 3:00 PM.
This annual conference offers an opportunity to discover the vast and enriching opportunities available for individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of memory loss. Open to personal and professional care partners, as well as artists and administrators who are facilitating such programs, this day-long event gives participants an opportunity to connect and learn from one another.
We’ll be joined by leaders from Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University; NC Giving Voice from Minneapolis, MN; ENCORE Chorus from Rochester, NY; and more!
The conference is offered at no charge due to generous anonymous funding, and includes a light breakfast and boxed lunch.
Guided Tours
Explore the museum’s incredible art and history collection, as well as exciting seasonal exhibits through multi-sensory tours. The programs are guided by museum educators in-person or on Zoom.
Art-Making Workshops
Creative expression and fun are at the heart of these hands-on workshops. No previous art making experience needed! Sessions are led by museum educators in our art studio or on Zoom.
Art Expression at The Long Island Museum
Join us for an afternoon of creativity as LIM hosts the Alzheimer’s Disease Resource Center’s Art Expression program. We’ll draw inspiration form LIM’s varied and beautiful collection of artwork, and then be guided in our own artmaking by a museum educator.

Mornings @ LIM
These monthly sessions are open to individuals living with dementia and their care partners. They offer time for creative engagement and social connection in our galleries and art studio, as well as through special music and movie programs. These programs are run in collaboration with the Alzheimer’s Disease Resource Center.
Making Memories at the Movies: Movies in Color!

Recognizing that movies have the power to spark memories and create connections, we are happy to welcome Making Memories at the Movies this July! Enjoy clips from movies that have a color in their title – including classics such as White Christmas and modern favorites such as Moulin Rouge – followed by guided conversation and socialization. All are welcome!
Music: Johnny Cuomo Acoustic Concert

LIM is delighted to welcome musician and storyteller Johnny Cuomo! Johnny has been sharing music in venues across Long Island, New York City, and beyond for over twenty-five years. Guests will be treated to his folk-flavored acoustic sounds, with influences from rock and traditional Irish music. Visitors are encouraged to listen, sing, and tap their feet during this joy-filled morning of music.

Through Our Eyes
This annual art exhibition highlights work created by people living with memory loss, as well as the joy that the arts can bring into our lives even while navigating the challenges of dementia.
The 2026 exhibition will take place October 1-18 in the Cowles Gallery. Our community partner will be announced soon.
