The Stony Brook Fire Department
Community Leader Honoree

The dedicated members of the Stony Brook Fire Department have proudly served the Stony Brook community since 1909, providing essential fire protection and emergency medical services for over a century.

Established at a time when the community was growing and local residents recognized the need for organized fire protection, the department has evolved alongside Stony Brook, currently serving over 13,000 residents, along with institutions like The Long Island Museum, Stony Brook Village Center and parts of Stony Brook University.

Beyond helping keep our museum campus safe for our staff and visitors, they volunteer their time to serve and are an integral part of our community, regularly participating in local events where children—and the young at heart—can meet firefighters, explore the equipment, and experience what it’s like to serve on the front lines.

As we mark the 25th anniversary of the tragic events of September 11, 2001, The Long Island Museum is proud to honor the Stony Brook Fire Department and the courageous local firefighters who served tirelessly during the rescue, recovery, and cleanup efforts that followed. We are grateful for their unwavering commitment to protecting our communities.

Kevin Lenane
Gala Honoree

Kevin Lenane is a serial entrepreneur and technology executive with a track record of building and scaling companies across media, mobile, and AI. He has founded multiple ventures that were successfully acquired, including Veenome, a video intelligence and analytics company, and Genamint, an AI-powered platform for trading card authentication and identification — and has held senior leadership roles including President of PSA, the world’s leading trading card authentication and grading company.

Beyond his professional work, Kevin is a passionate collector and hobbyist. He has assembled the largest and most complete collection of Apple devices in the United States, which he meticulously restores and preserves. Earlier this year, he generously loaned key pieces from his collection to LIM’s 50 Years of Apple Computers: The Kevin Lenane Collection exhibition (February 19–May 24, 2026). The exhibition celebrated the technological innovation and groundbreaking design that transformed Apple into a household name. The exhibition was a tremendous success, captivating visitors of all ages—and also garnered national attention for the Museum when it was featured in a segment on NBC-TV’s TODAY Show on April 1st in conjunction with Apple’s 50th Anniversary.

The Long Island Museum is deeply grateful for Kevin’s generosity, not only as a lender, but also as a friend and supporter of the Museum. His passion for preserving the history of technology has helped us share that history with our community in a meaningful and engaging way.
