Hawkins-Mount House Tours

March 21, 2027 @ 12:30 pm – 4:30 pm

Step back in time with special tours of the historic Hawkins-Mount House! Discover the ancestral home of celebrated American genre painter William Sidney Mount, who created some of his most memorable paintings from an attic studio tucked inside this charming 18th-century homestead.

Located at a historically significant crossroads along North Country Road in Stony Brook, the Hawkins-Mount House dates to around 1725 and has grown and evolved over the centuries. Rich in history and artistic inspiration, this remarkable home offers a glimpse into the world of one of Long Island’s most renowned artists. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1966.

Registrants are responsible for their own transportation to the site. Please be aware that the historic site features uneven ground and flooring, steps, and other structural elements that may present challenges for visitors with mobility impairments. There are no restrooms at this location, however the museum is located less than a half mile down the road.
