LIM & Emma S. Clark Library Collaborative Exhibit Tour and Book Discussion for Teens
July 31 @ 5:00 pm – 6:30 pm
Join us, Old Sport, at the Long Island Museum for a tour of the Gatsby at 100 exhibition, followed by a book discussion led by Librarian Emily Ostrander of Self-Made Boys (A Great Gatsby Remix) by Anna-Marie McLemore. Part of the Remixed Classics series, authors from marginalized backgrounds expertly reinterpret classic works through their own cultural lens.
The tour will interweave aspects of Self-Made Boys with the history of Long Island’s Gold Coast and Fitzgerald’s writing circle, providing a deeper understanding of the lives of 1920s young folks from marginalized backgrounds, as well as those who were figureheads of the era.
Light refreshments will be provided, and parents are welcome to stick around for the tour, or explore the museum on their own, with free entry for these extended Thursday hours.
REGISTRATION
Free for all!
Must register directly with the Emma S. Clark Library at emmaclark.org.
