Embracing the goal to enhance and support the rich artistic talent on Long Island, LIM has created a special membership opportunity for visual artists, LIMarts: a collaborative arts group. Designed for artists dedicated to creating a forum within our cultural community, LIMarts offers space for the exhibition and sale of artwork, varied programming events, lectures and opportunities for social gathering with other artists and the public.
Artist of the Month
Ekaterina Stolyarova
The Long Island Museum and LIMarts is thrilled to announce that the May Artist of the Month is Ekaterina Stolyarova!
Ekaterina Stolyarova is a New York-based artist, researcher, and restorer whose practice explores the relationship between art, nature, and environmental responsibility. Working exclusively with natural pigments, she has developed a distinctive eco-conscious method that reconnects painting with its historical origins while addressing contemporary ecological concerns.
Her works are created using mineral and plant-based pigments mixed with water, avoiding synthetic materials and emphasizing a sustainable, non-toxic approach to art-making. Through this process, Stolyarova preserves traditional techniques while reinterpreting them within a contemporary context, where material becomes an essential part of the artwork’s meaning.
Her paintings reflect on the fragile balance between human activity and the natural world, evoking themes of transformation, memory, and environmental vulnerability.
Stolyarova has exhibited internationally, with her work presented in museums, galleries, and major art fairs in the United States and abroad. Her practice has also been presented in an academic context, including at Columbia University. Her works are held in private collections in the United States, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, and Russia.
Margaret Minardi’s series has focused on subjects such as infertility, adoption, identical twins, her upbringing in Trinidad, and her incredible students.
