FILM @ LIM: Screening of “Archipelago New York” & Talk with Filmmaker Thomas Halaczinsky | FREE
July 10 @ 7:00 pm
The Greater Port Jefferson Arts Council and the Long Island Museum have joined forces to bring films to our community that touch upon a variety of topics.
Archipelago New York is a fascinating three-part documentary series by Thomas Halaczinsky, loosely based on his book by the same title. The films document a modern-day exploration of the New York island world by sailboat. We will be screening Episode 2 of the series “Wildlife in the City,” exploring how, after 300 million years, animals have adapted to the expanding urban environment.
Following the screening, join filmmaker Thomas Halaczinsky for an insightful conversation about the making of the documentary, and get a peek at his next project about Plum Island, shedding new light on its past and exploring its present after the federal laboratory was decommissioned.
LOCATION
The film screening and talk will take place in the Gillespie Room located in the LIM’s Carriage Museum (please bring a light sweater or jacket for your comfort).
