Let’s get creative together this summer!

Join museum educators for a different spotlight gallery tour each date to spark your imagination. Then, participate in a hands-on activity or art project inspired by the exhibitions on view.

Children must be accompanied by an adult caregiver 18 years or older.

REGISTRATION

Pre-registration is requested for this program; walk-in attendees may be admitted if space permits.

$15 per child member

$20 per child non-member

Pirates & Mermaids Family Fun Day | Free

July 26 @ 1:00 pm 4:00 pm

Ahoy and avast! Adventure Awaits at Summer Family Fun Day featuring Pirates and Mermaids.

Come dressed in costume for a day of fun, including a stage show by Timeless Tales Entertainment.

When a supernatural shipwreck grounds two rival pirate crews on shore, it’s a race against the clock to find the legendary buried treasure! Will you help the pirates discover the true treasures along the way? Swim on over to the LIM on Family Fun Day for a swashbuckling interactive stage show featuring silly pirates, a mermaid, and a whole lot of nautical nonsense! 

Enjoy free entertainment, games, crafts, gallery exploration, and more!

This event is free for everyone. No registration required.

Food Drive with Agape Meals for Kids

Please bring a non-perishable food donation for Agape Meals for Kids, a local nonprofit providing food-insecure children with nutritious meals. Most needed items: macaroni and cheese, peanut butter and jelly, and canned pasta meals.

Plein Air Painting

August 8 @ 1:00 pm 4:00 pm

Capture the beauty of LIM’s gardens and grounds with an afternoon of painting en plein air! Find inspiration all around you, from the beauty of nature and the charm of our historic buildings to the creativity of our outdoor sculpture collection.

Painters of all ages and levels are invited. Bring your painting/drawing materials, or borrow some from us!

This event is included with admission. No registration required.

Rooted in History: Long Island Potatoes

Get ready to have a spud-tacular time!

Once known as the “Potato Capital of the World,” Long Island has a rich history of potato farming dating back to the early 1800s. Join historic cook, Diane Schwindt, for family fun, hands-on historical learning about the delicious LI potato, including food tasting and potato-themed crafts and games. 

This program will take place outdoors on the Carriage Museum lawn, but will be moved into the Studio in the event of rain.

REGISTRATION

This program is included with museum admission. Registration is requested.
